Cosmetology Operator Program Objectives

 The cosmetology operator program is designed to provide guidance, instruction, and hands-on practical experience and develop student skills and knowledge, and to prepare students for the cosmetology license examination as well as an entry level position and/or a career in the cosmetology business.

Cosmetology Operator Program Length and Description

 This program offers a fifteen-hundred (1500) hour course of instruction. The program covers all phases of cosmetology, including hair care (cutting, styling, perming, and coloring); general esthetics (skin care, facials, and makeup); and general nail technology. The program provides instruction and hands-on practical experience, including lectures, demonstrations, drills, discussion, handouts/assignment sheets, question/answer, quizzes and tests, and practice on manikins, live models, and clients.

 The cosmetology operator program may be completed in ten (10) to twenty (20) months. The actual length of the program depends on the schedule chosen and specified in the student’s contract.

 Cosmetology Operator Program Curriculum

 The cosmetology operator curriculum will include theory instruction (about 250 hours), laboratory demonstrations (about 350 hours), and clinical practice (about 900 hours).
